Oooooh. Ahhhhhhhh....Mexico!

Mexico! What a great day to just hang out at the resort. Our day began with the desire to go on a ocean kayak tour. Instead...the water was too rough...so beck did water aerobics while I lay in the sun on the resort poolside patio.. listening to the ocean crash against the shore of our sun filled resort. At least water activities still abound...I played water volleyball with a bunch of tourista's in our pool.  That was fun and a great way to meet other friendly folks staying at the resort. Truly relaxing and chatting with folks around the country became our desire this morning. We relaxed until it was time to go into town for our 6pm dinner reservation at the Panorama restaurant

The Panorama overlooks most all of Puerto Vallarta and Banderas Bay. Beck and i reminised about the last time we were there...was it 2004 ? 2007? either way the restaurant looked the same...and pele (our server) looked the same too. He said he had only worked there for 45 years! Also there was the same photographer that took our picture last time we were there. i will show the pictures below...to compare.

back to the resort we go to hang out in the air conditioned room....and enjoy a run and coke on ice.....AHhhhhhhh.

4 the bus people...

The bus system works well here in PV. many people take the bus...you can take the bus nearly everywhere in PV.  The busses are usually packed with locals...hotel workers...and a small population of vacationers (like us). It's super cheap and if you don't need to be in a hurry...and who is in PV...it's a great way to see parts of the area you won't see on a tour.

Today...we took the bus to one of the most popular spots in the city. WALMART!

The walmart is filled with just about anything you need. From bananas to motorbikes and M&M's to matresses. we needed a few simple things and headed back to the bus. We got to see the various communities in PV. One of the things we were searching for no longer is here. Hard Rock cafe!

Apparently the Hard rock has moved to nuevo vallarta to capiltolize on the rich visitors and those coming in from the cruise ships. Kinda bummed us out...the Senior Frogs in old town PV is also closed. Some of the residents here are happy they have moved from old town...but i am sure the old town has suffered in tourism as a result.

we got back to the resort to hang out with some fun people and played black jack for fun...the prize was a hamburger....we did not win.

dinner at the resort was awesome...beck had the salmon...i had the shrimp. I have had shrimp with nearly every meal so far....

manana...we plan to go on a paddle boat tour!

We ended up at a fine mexican place for lunch...bubba gumps! the shrimp were awesome!

We traversed a few more shops...this time they were pharmasies! To get itch cream and bug bite preventer before getting back to the resort. Beck is down for a nap while i write this. It's getting close to happy hour so i hope to write more after that!

Cheers!

happpe hr waz fun....wil writ mo latr.

whew after some rest...we went to the pool...met some super nice folks...it's amazing what you learn when you chat with folks...you might even meet someone who knows a friend...I met Mr. Dent...after a few minutes chatting i found out he was a good friend of a friend...michael john!

Dinner was awesome...steak and seafood...salad bar...tortilla soup. Yup...I'd eat it again!

Called it a night...watched some mexican TV and football...announced in mexican. The dia was muy bien.

2 puerto vallarta to mismaloya then back to the resort.

Sunday morning...finishing dinner from the night before... the only thing missing were cocktails!

We had decided we were going to enjoy seeing things we hadn't seen before so we decided to go to the Zoo!

Puerto Vallarta ZOO from Star Productions DJs on Vimeo.

About 20 minutes south from our hotel is this long, not very well tended road...which dead ends to the zoo! 10.00 per person...but one of the best zoo's i have ever been to! You get to feed the Animals!!! You can buy a bag full of carrots, bread, peanuts and birdseed.

We had so much fun seeing the animals big and small...here's a link to the Zoo for more information.

After about 2 hours at the Zoo...we walked down the long and windy rock road and found a private tequilla maker...family business for like 30 years. We were the only ones there and we got a tour and tasting! did you know that it tkaes 7 years for a tequila plant to be ready for harvest? Yup! They us the inside of the plant to cook, then squeeze the sugar from the root...then cook the sugar till it steams then drips into a large glass container...into distilling...then into the bottle. we had about 8 shots there...then staggered down the road to pick up the bus to mismaloya beach.

we remember mismaloya...it was a clean little town...now...not so clean...still little though...we bought sandals for me...which i wore with black socks...very fashionable!

being that it was sunday...and there was football on...somewhere in PV we ventured into town. Found toritos sports bar and met some folks we had to sit with cause the place was packed! Watched the NINNERS WIN! and as an extra added bonus...the SEAHAWKS LOST!!!! AH what a great ending. Lots of cerveza's later we got on the bus and headed home...our early dinner at the bar included nacho's and shrimp...with coconut....YUM. Crashed early since our day before was hectic with travel and we were a bit burn't from heat and drinky drinks!

Nitey night!

1 oregon to puerto Vallarta.

our trip to PV started at 3am Saturday Morning...driving to Redmond to catch an early flight to Portland...made our connection...with a Bagel and Cream cheese for me and Egg sandwich bagel for beck. Jump on a flight to San Diego..then to Puerto Vallarta. Landing 3 minutes early in PV! 3pm local time...1 pm to us.

OH Man it's hot! 90 dgrees...80 percent humidty...dripping in sweat!

About 40 minutes to our resort. Costa Sur...just south of PV by about 15 minutes by bus.

Day one was spent getting familiar with the resort and taking in Happy Hour! Got a little drunky...watched a sweet wedding take place on the patio over looking the ocean...seems like a popular spot to get wed!

went back to the room to get ready for dinner...more drinks...then ordered dinner at the amazing restaurant at the hotel.

all of a sudden...sweet becky was struck with the Rum puches and Margaritas too early so i tucked her in and went back to the party...

got to meet a great DJ who used the same speakers and software i use....i helped him pick out a few beats...he was funny. Played cumbia music and raggaeton all night.

i lucked out...

Met a guy and chatted for a while...you know its a small world when after chatting for about 15 minutes we have a mutual friend michael john stephanchik!

got the point that i was getting hungry...so i picked up our dinner and went upstars to enjoy shrimp...Becky still snoozing. She snjoyed her dinner the next morning.
